181, 242, 338, and Still Counting . . .
One can be categorically opposed to recognition of the
legitimacy of "Israel" as a matter of principle! One
cannot afford to be so tunnel-visioned, however, as to
not be able to distinguish between different political
situations.
Not all political situations are equal. For example, one
should realize that United Nations Resolutions 242 or 338
offered the Arabs far more than what they obtained from
Camp David, Oslo, and Wadi Arabah combined. UN Resolution
242 required "Israel" to withdraw from the land it occupied
in 1967 (Sinai, the West Bank, Gaza, and the Golan Heights).
The Resolution furthermore guaranteed the right of all
States in the region to peace and security.
Instead of returning the lands occupied in 1967, however,
"Israel" has been using SOME of that land to bargain for
complete normalization with all Arab states. While the
Zionist State uses OUR land as a bargaining chip for open
markets, diplomatic ties, and security cooperation, it
simultaneously becomes more entrenched in other parts of
our homeland, such as East Jerusalem, the West Bank, and
the Golan. Note that normalization with "Israel" under Oslo
or Wadi Arabah is much more than the 'Peace' and 'Security'
guaranteed by Resolution 242, which could be interpreted in
a strictly military sense.
For the record, in the aftermath of the 1967 war, all Arab
regimes, (including Abdul-Nasser's), approved Resolution 242
when it was adopted in the UN. So we cannot blame "rejectionists"
here for the non-implementation of 242!! In 1974, the then
revolutionary leadership of the PLO even toned down its opposition
to 242, declaring that it opposed 242 because it referred to Palestinians
as refugees rather than as a people with an identity. This seemingly
patriotic Palestinian position implied that there was no PLO opposition
to all 'States' in the region living in peace and security, including
"Israel".
If that were the case, why then were the West Bank and Gaza not
returned and why have we reduced the ceiling of our independent,
patriotic, Palestinian, yet "realistic", demands today to a mere
10-13% of the West Bank?!!
The answer might lie in our parochial eagerness to pretend that
we are shrewd players in the political game. The problem there
however is that the game itself and its rules were created by
our enemies.

United Nations Resolution 242 itself gave us less than UN
resolution 181 dividing Palestine between the Arabs and the
Jews. Yet in 1948, "Israel" grabbed 40-50 % more land than it
had been given under the already unjust Resolution 181.
Unfortunately, demanding full implementation of 242 by the Arabs
made 181 a matter of history. Similarly, demanding that Netanyahu
live up to his obligations according to Oslo placed the relatively
superior 242 on the shelf of history to collect dust. Now we have
signed an agreement to implement Wye. So on and so forth until we
find ourselves completely at home in the pit of total defeat.
The punch line is that our readiness to accept so little,
allegedly because something is better than nothing, eggs
the enemy on to squeeze even more concessions out of us.
There is no quarter given to a weakling in this Zionist world,
never mind a foolish weakling. AS WE BECOME CONDITIONED INTO
SAVORING OUR SPIRALING DESCENT INTO SUBMISSION, under the proud
banner of independent Palestinian decision-making, WE ARE LED TO
BELIEVE BY OUR DEFEATIST LEADERS THAT ANY SMALL CONCESSION WE
GET FROM OUR ENEMY IS THE MOTHER OF ALL VICTORIES BECAUSE
'SOMETHING IS BETTER THAN NOTHING'... In fact, when we settle
for a fraction of our rights, we get close to nothing! You have
to demand all to get something. Possibly.
This suggests that the solution to this quagmire is for us
to repudiate our addiction to defeat. In order to do so,
we must embrace the hard choice to mobilize, organize, and
work to obtain every possible political, economic, scientific,
and military capability and alliance.

Then and only then will we be able to negotiate from a
position of strength if we choose to negotiate, and fight
like raging bulls when it's time to jam.
