Can we Absorb them Culturally?

So...

Admiral, alchmey, alchohol, algebra, almanac, arsenal,
etc.. etc..etc ..

Do you know the common element in all of these words
besides the fact that they begin with the letter 'a'?

They all are English words with an Arabic root, and
this is only a small fraction of the words in an
English lexicon under the letter 'a'.

Admiral= amir al-ba7r, alchmey=old for chemistry,
alchohol=kou7oul, algebra=jaber, almanac=taqweem,
arsenal= dar as-sina3ah, etc.. etc..etc ..(source:

There was a time when Arabs were more advanced culturally
and when they made a substantial contribution to World
Civilization. This was reflected in language, since language
cannot be separated from culture, thought processes, science,
technology, or their products. Now, sadly, many Arabs cannot
even communicate in good Arabic or appreciate poetry as they
once did, let alone create it.

There was a time when, if you wanted to learn or write anything
that mattered, you had to do it in Arabic. Furthermore, European
princes designed their houses in the fashion of Arab princes, and
the Arab dress code was the hippest.

When that was the case, it was possible to absorb others
culturally, like the invading foreigners who called themselves
the Crusaders. Now, on the other hand, we are more than a little
behind, if you haven't noticed. Words like 'computer', 'TV', 'VCR',
'theory of relativity', 'nuclear fusion', etc..etc..etc..are not
Arabic in origin. (Note that we typically say 'satellite', not
'industrial moon', which is a facetious attempt at an Arabic
translation).

Americans may be eating shawerma and falfel more than ever, but
they're not becoming Arabized, and we, with the rest of the world
are becoming increasingly Americanized, much to the chagrin of
the Europeans!

The reason is the golden rule of cultural interaction throughout
history: MORE ADVANCED CULTURES ABSORB LESS ADVANCED CULTURES, NOT
THE OTHER WAY AROUND. This is why it was possible for the Arabs to
absorb the backward crusaders culturally, and why it is not possible
today for the Arabs to culturally absorb the "Israelis". You might
not want to admit it, but hey, we have got to know what we're dealing
with here. The Zionists have the West behind them and the distance
between 'us' and 'them' is too wide for us to justify fooling
ourselves.

Faisal Husseini and others from Fateh say: don't worry about the
"Israelis"!! We're gonna absorb them culturally, like we did with
the Crusaders. Therefore, let's open up [read: surrender] to them
as much as possible. Let's defeat them that way..That is unrealistic,
sorry to say, so let's wake up here. We're facing the threat of
cultural annihilation and a possible total loss of identity, just
like the Native Americans, unless we do something about it.

To say that we're going to absorb them culturally in the long-run
is not merely a way to justify going along with politically defeatist
projects. It is historically equivalent to saying that white settlers
in America were no threat because they would become Indianized, or that
the French in Algeria would become Arabized!!!

When the Crusaders came to our land, they didn't know what sugar was.
Honey was the only sweetener they knew how to use. We introduced them
to soukar, and it became sugar in English, sucre in French, and so on.
We could have talked about cultural absorption at that point in time,
with Arab culture in the ascendant. Can we say the same about us today
with respect to the "Israelis"?? I think not. For the record, one of
the few words Arabs gave the English language recently was "Intifada"
. . . so let's invent more little words like that, the sort of words
that speak volumes.

The second thing that people ignore when they talk about culturally
absorbing the "Israelis" is that THEY CAME TO PALESTINE SO AS NOT TO
BE ABSORBED. The ghetto mentality of this particular group of invaders
has prevented even the culturally more advanced Europeans from absorbing
them into their societies. 'Assimilation' is a dirty word in Jewish
society. The Ashkenazis came to Palestine in order to create their own
international ghetto, after hundreds of years of resisting assimilation
into European cultures. The whole idea behind Zionism is that they are
the CHOSEN people of God, and that Palestine is THEIR promised land!
That's something we need to fight . . . not absorb. TO ABSORB THAT
is to get Zionized and there is NO place in Zionist society for ANY
ONE but Jews, except perhaps as slaves.
