Murder spree continues: three
more bodies found dumped around Baghdad Monday.
In a dispatch posted at 7:55pm
Baghdad time Monday night, the Yaqen News Agency reported that
the Iraqi government police recovered the bodies of three more murder
victims that had been dumped around Baghdad on Monday.
One US soldier killed in
northeastern Baghdad Monday afternoon.
In a dispatch posted at 7:40pm
Baghdad time Monday night, the Yaqen News Agency reported that
the US military announced that a bomb had exploded by a US military
vehicle in northeastern Baghdad at 4pm Monday afternoon. Yaqen
reported the US communiqué as saying that the attack killed one American
soldier.
US admits two soldiers die
in Iraq Sunday.
In a dispatch posted on its Arabic
website at 4:12pm Monday afternoon Beijing time (11:12am in Baghdad),
the Xinhua News Agency reported that the US military had admitted
that two of its soldiers had been killed in separate attacks in Iraq.
Xinhua reported an American communiqué as announcing
that one American soldier died of wounds received when a bomb exploded
near his vehicle in northern Baghdad on Sunday night.
In a separate communiqué, the
American military admitted that another US solider had died on Sunday of
wounds received when a bomb exploded by his vehicle which also came
under gunfire during combat operations somewhere in al-Anbar Province on
the night of Saturday, 29 March.
According to official American
statistics, the latest reported deaths bring the total number of US
deaths in March to 36, and the number killed since the American invasion
to 4,010.
Mortar shells blast into
“Green Zone” in Baghdad Monday morning.
In a dispatch posted on its Arabic
website at 3:54pm Monday afternoon Beijing time (10:54am in Baghdad),
the Xinhua News Agency reported that mortar shells again rained
down on the top-security US occupation headquarters district in Baghdad
– the area dubbed the “Green Zone” – on Monday.
Xinhua reported a source in
the Iraqi government police as saying that several mortar shells landed
in the “Green Zone” Monday morning. The sounds of explosions and of
sirens wailing inside the fortress-like compound could be heard, and
smoke was seen rising over the area.
Witnesses said that about six
mortar shells landed in the “Green Zone” at about 10am local time and
that they saw plumes of smoke rise over the area as a result.

bomb attack near Balad.

Baghdad time Monday night, the Yaqen News Agency reported that a
bomb exploded by a patrol of Iraqi government police in an area south
of Balad, about 80km north of Baghdad.

Four members of
US-recruited “Popular Committee” killed in ambush near Buhriz.
In a dispatch posted at 4:20pm
Baghdad time Monday afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported
that armed men attacked a check point manned by members of the
US-recruited tribal “Popular Committee” police in the Buhriz area, 60km
northeast of Baghdad.

Mortar barrage targets US
consulate in al-Hillah.
In a dispatch posted at 10:30am
Baghdad time Monday morning, the Yaqen News Agency reported that
eight mortar shells were fired at the US consulate in south-central
al-Hillah, 100km south of Baghdad.
