US admits death of two more American troops in Iraq, as offensive against Jaysh al-Mahdi continues.
 
In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 8:18am Tuesday morning Beijing time (4:18am in Baghdad), the Xinhua News Agency reported that the US military had admitted that a bomb had exploded by a US patrol in northeastern Baghdad at 4:45pm Monday afternoon local time.
 
Xinhua reported the US communiqué as saying that the explosion resulted in the death of an American soldier.  The announcement said that he was initially badly wounded and then evacuated by helicopter, but that he died in a military hospital later.
 
The US is continuing its offensive against the anti-occupation Jaysh al-Mahdi militia in northeastern Baghdad.
 
Earlier in the day, the US military admitted that one of its soldiers had been killed in a bomb explosion somewhere in Salah ad-Din Province.
 
US backed Sunni police form political movement.
 
In a dispatch posted at 5pm Baghdad time Monday afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that Abu ‘Azzam at-Tamimi, a leader of the pro-American “Awakening” tribal police, announced that a political movement known as the Iraqi Honor Front had been formed on the basis of the tribal collaborationist forces.
 
Yaqen reported at-Tamimi as saying that the front aims at what he called “filling the vacuum” in the current politics of the US-backed regime.  The US has been working over the last two years to garner political support for its occupation from the Arab tribes in the country, undercutting the Resistance movement that once held sway in much of western Iraq.
 
At-Tamimi claimed that the Honor Front, which is based among Sunni Arab tribesmen and consisting largely of members of the armed “Awakening” police recruited by the US, advocated non-violence and had no religious sectarian affiliation.
 
Bomb explodes by US patrol in northeastern Baghdad.
 
In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 5:33pm Monday afternoon Beijing time (1:33pm in Baghdad), the Xinhua News Agency reported that a bomb exploded by us forces at the ash-Sha‘b junction in northeastern Baghdad.
 
Xinhua reported a source in the government police as saying that no information on US losses was available because the Americans quickly cordoned off the area after the blast, letting no one approach.  The US continues its offensive against the anti-occupation Jaysh al-Mahdi militia in Baghdad.
 
Bomb explodes near government car on at-Tayran Square before noon Monday.
 
In a dispatch posted at 12:59pm Baghdad time midday Monday, the Yaqen News Agency reported that a bomb exploded on at-Tayran Square in central Baghdad before noon Monday.
 
US bombards Madinat as-Sadr Monday.
 
In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 4:14pm Monday afternoon Beijing time (12:14pm in Baghdad), the Xinhua News Agency reported that US forces bombarded the impoverished Madinat as-Sadr area of Baghdad, stronghold of support for young Shi‘i anti-occupation religious leader Muqtada as-Sadr.
 
Xinhua reported a source in the Iraqi government police as saying that no information on the nature or extent of casualties in Madinat as-Sadr was available.
 
The sound of explosions resounded in various parts of Baghdad on Monday from 1am until 6am as US forces continued their offensive against the Jaysh al-Mahdi.
 
Massive bomb targets US patrol in Baghdad al-Jadidah before dawn Monday.
 
In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 4:14pm Monday afternoon Beijing time (12:14pm in Baghdad), the Xinhua News Agency reported that a massive bomb exploded by a US patrol in the Baghdad al-Jadidah area in the south of the Iraqi capital at 2am local time.
 
Bomb rips through US patrol in eastern Baghdad Monday morning.
 
In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 4:14pm Monday afternoon Beijing time (12:14pm in Baghdad), the Xinhua News Agency reported that a bomb went off by a passing US patrol in the al-Fadilah area of eastern Baghdad on Monday morning.
 
Mortar shells hit west Baghdad neighborhood.
 
In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 4:14pm Monday afternoon Beijing time (12:14pm in Baghdad), the Xinhua News Agency reported that mortar shells of unknown origin rained down on the west Baghdad neighborhood of al-‘Adl at dawn Monday

Ad-Dulu‘iyah.
 
Al-Qa‘idah hit man who killed for $80 arrested in ad-Dulu‘iyah.
 
In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 6:34pm Monday afternoon Beijing time (2:34pm in Baghdad), the Xinhua News Agency reported that the Iraqi government police had arrested a serious criminal who worked as a hired killer for the al-Qa‘idah organization.
 
Xinhua reported Major Ibrahim al-Jabburi of the Tikrit police as saying that a police patrol arrested an individual who had come to ad-Dulu‘iyah, 97km north of Baghdad, from Diyala Province ostensibly looking for work.  The police regarded him as suspicious and upon investigation he confessed to carrying out seven murders for each of which, al-Qa‘idah paid him 100,000 Iraqi Dinars – the equivalent of about US$80.
 
Al-Jabburi said the man received instructions and a hit list of individuals, all of them from Diyala Province, whom al-Qa‘idah wanted dead.  Al-Jabburi added that the investigation was still underway.
 
Al-Jabburi added that unknown armed men planted two bombs in front and behind the home of Dr. Ibrahim ‘Ali Fahl, a member of the Municipal council for ad-Dulu‘iyah, in the village of Kabibah, 8km east of the city.
 
Al-Jabburi said that the blast wounded a civilian and severely damaged the building.

In a dispatch posted at 7:15pm Baghdad time Monday afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that a gang of between 20 and 30 armed men believed to belong to al-Qa‘idah attacked residents in the Balad area, 80km north of Baghdad.

Gunmen attack families of pro-US tribesmen.
 
In a dispatch posted at 10:40am Baghdad time Monday morning, the Yaqen News Agency reported that armed men believed to belong to the al-Qa‘idah organization attacked homes of US-recruited “Awakening” policemen in the village of Tall adh-Dhahab in the ash-Sharuqat area, 250km north of Baghdad.

Official with Civil Society Organizations assassinated Monday morning.
 
In a dispatch posted at 11:34am Baghdad time Monday morning, the Yaqen News Agency reported that the General Commissioner for Civil Society Organizations in Diyala Province announced that a group of armed men assassinated an official with the Civil Society Organizations in the Ba‘qubah are, 65km north of Baghdad, on Monday morning.

Car bomb kills 12 pro-American Kurdish separatist gunmen in Rabi‘ah.
 
In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 9:05am Tuesday morning Beijing time (5:05am in Baghdad, the Xinhua News Agency reported that 12 pro-American Kurdish separatist Peshmergah gunmen were killed when a car bomb went of by their column in Rabi‘ah near the Syrian border in northern Iraq, 100km west of al-Mawsil on Monday.
 
Tall ‘Afar.
 
Bombs kill four in Tall ‘Afar.
 
In a dispatch posted at 9:35pm Baghdad time Monday night, the Yaqen News Agency reported that five explosions ripped through the Tall ‘Afar area, 55km west of al-Mawsil, on Monday afternoon.

Jaysh al-Mahdi fighters gun down Intelligence officer in pro-US regime.
 
In a dispatch posted at 12:01pm Baghdad time midday Monday, the Yaqen News Agency reported that an officer in the US-installed Iraqi regime’s Intelligence Service was assassinated by the anti-occupation Jaysh al-Mahdi militia in al-Basrah on Monday.
