Car bomber kills five policemen in northern ar-Ramadi.
 
In a dispatch posted at 3:35pm Baghdad time Tuesday afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that a car bomber blasted into a police checkpoint in the al-Hamidiyah area of northern ar-Ramadi.
 
Car bomber kills 14 in attack on restaurant in ar-Ramadi.
 
In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 6:46pm Tuesday afternoon Beijing time (2:46pm in Baghdad), the Xinhua News Agency reported that a car bomber blew up his explosives-laden vehicle near a popular restaurant in western ar-Ramadi, 110km west of Baghdad.

US admits death of soldier in bomb attack during US offensive against Jaysh al-Mahdi militia.
 
In a dispatch posted at 8:41pm Baghdad time Tuesday evening, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that the US military had admitted that a bomb had exploded by a US military vehicle in northeastern Baghdad, where American forces have been carrying out an offensive against the anti-occupation Jaysh al-Mahdi militia.
 
Civilians targeted by continuing US offensive against Madinat as-Sadr district in Baghdad, bombing homes, clashing with Jaysh al-Mahdi militia.
 
In a dispatch posted at 4:05pm Baghdad time Tuesday afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that combined forces of US and Iraqi regime troops battled the anti-occupation Jaysh al-Mahdi militia in the Madinat as-Sadr district of eastern Baghdad on Monday night.
 
Yaqen reported a source in the police as saying that three people were killed and 13 wounded in the course of the fighting, which was part of the on-going US offensive against the anti-occupation Jaysh al-Mahdi.
 
The source said that most of the wounded are civilians who later received treatment at the Imam ‘Ali and as-Sadr Hospitals in the Madinat as-Sadr area.
 
The source added that US helicopter gun ships had blasted neighborhoods in al-Kayyarah and Suq Muridi in the impoverished Madinat as-Sadr district – a stronghold of support for anti-occupation Shi‘i religious leader Muqtada as-Sadr.  The wounded from those air strikes were taken to the Imam ‘Ali and as-Sadr Hospitals for treatment.  The source said that the American air raids also damaged numerous family homes in Madinat as-Sadr.
 
Powerful car bomb explodes by motorcade of Iraqi police official Tuesday afternoon.
 
In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 7:04pm Tuesday evening Beijing time (3:04pm in Baghdad), the Xinhua News Agency reported that a powerful car bomb exploded th motorcade of a police official in the center of Baghdad after noon on Tuesday.
 
 
Bomb explodes by US patrol in southern Baghdad late Monday night.
 
In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 3:05pm Tuesday afternoon Beijing time (11:05am in Baghdad), the Xinhua News Agency reported that a bomb went off by a US patrol at the ar-Rafa’ Junction in the as-Sayyidiyah area of southern of Baghdad, late on Monday night
 
Bomb targets police station, killing two sanitation workers.
 
In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 3:05pm Tuesday afternoon Beijing time (11:05am in Baghdad), the Xinhua News Agency reported that a bomb exploded behind the al-‘Alawiyah police station in Baghdad as sanitation workers were cleaning the area Tuesday.
 
Mortar shell wounds two civilians Monday night.
 
In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 3:05pm Tuesday afternoon Beijing time (11:05am in Baghdad), the Xinhua News Agency reported that a mortar shell of unknown origins crashed into residences in the al-Dawli‘i neighborhood in the al-Hurriyah area of northern Baghdad on Monday night.
 
Xinhua reported a source in the Iraqi government police as saying that the blast wounded two civilians and damaged several houses.
 
General in Energy Protection police abducted in Baghdad.
 
In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 2:31pm Tuesday afternoon Beijing time (10:31am in Baghdad), the Xinhua News Agency reported that unknown armed men abducted Brigadier General Muhammad Sabah, the patrol commander in the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity’s Energy Protection Police.

In a dispatch posted at 9:02pm Baghdad time Tuesday night, the Yaqen News Agency reported that a bomb exploded by a patrol of Iraqi government police in the city of Tuz Khurmatu, 185km north of Baghdad.

Al-Qa‘idah gunmen attack village, wounding 17; local al-Qa‘idah commander reported killed.
 
In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 2:31pm Tuesday afternoon Beijing time (10:31am in Baghdad), the Xinhua News Agency reported that gunmen believed to belong to the al-Qa‘idah organization attacked the village of Tall adh-Dhahab in the Yathrib area, 70km north of Baghdad.
 
Diyala Province.
Ba‘qubah.
 
Al-Qa‘idah bombing targets civilians in Ba‘qubah, leaving 40 dead, 75 wounded just before noon Tuesday.
 
In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 5:30pm Tuesday afternoon Beijing time (1:30pm in Baghdad), the Xinhua News Agency reported that a car bomb exploded near the courthouse in Ba‘qubah, 65km northeast of Baghdad, before noon Tuesday.

Al-Mawsil.
 
Car bombs wound 19 near university in al-Mawsil.
 
In a dispatch posted at 6:15pm Baghdad time Tuesday afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that two car bombs exploded, one after the other, near the gates to al-Mawsil University, wounding 19 people, four of them policemen, on Tuesday afternoon.
 
Female lawyer, her sister gunned down in al-Mawsil.
 
In a dispatch posted at 11:32am Baghdad time Tuesday morning, the Yaqen News Agency reported that unknown gunmen attacked a female lawyer and her sister, killing both of them as they came out of their house in the at-Ta’mim neighborhood of eastern al-Mawsil, 420km northeast of Baghdad.
 
Gunmen kill man, three women in eastern al-Mawsil Monday night.
In a dispatch posted at 11:32am Baghdad time Tuesday morning, the Yaqen News Agency reported that a group of gunmen attacked a home in the al-Karamah apartment comples in the al-Khadra’ neighborhood of eastern al-Mawsil late on Monday night.

Belt bomber kills three at funeral in Tall ‘Afar.
 
In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 9:09am Tuesday morning Beijing time (5:09am in Baghdad), the Xinhua News Agency reported that am wearing an explosive belt blew himself up at a funeral in Tall ‘Afar, 55km west of al-Mawsil in northern Iraq.

Bomb disables US Humvee in ad-Diwaniyah, as fighting between US troops and anti-occupation Jaysh al-Mahdi militia spreads in southern Iraq.
 
In a dispatch posted at 4:15pm Baghdad time Tuesday afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that a bomb exploded by a US patrol in the city of ad-Diwaniyah, 180km south of Baghdad, as fighting between American forces and the anti-occupation Jaysh al-Mahdi militia spreads to regions of southern Iraq.

Aide to pro-regime Ayatallah survives assassination attempt.
 
In a dispatch posted at 10:47pm Baghdad time Tuesday night, the Yaqen News Agency reported that armed men attacked the motorcade of Habib al-Khatib, representative of pro-regime Shi‘i Ayatallah ‘Ali as-Sistanti in the an-Nu‘maniyah area, 136km southeast of Baghdad.
 
Yaqen reported a source in the Wasit Province police as saying that the representative of as-Sistani survived an attack in which men armed with machine guns intercepted his motorcade and sprayed the cars with bullets in the al-Ghabat area to the northwest of an-Nu‘maniyah when al-Khatib was returning from an-Najaf.  Al-Khatib was unhurt but one of his guards was wounded.

Militiamen reported killed while firing mortar at occupation forces in al-Basrah, as US offensive against Jaysh al-Mahdi continues.
 
In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 7:45pm Tuesday evening Beijing time (3:45pm in Baghdad), the Xinhua News Agency reported that a spokesman for the Anglo-American occupation forces in al-Basrah, 550km southeast of Baghdad, had announced that one of their aircraft had carried out an air raid to the west of the city.
