impoverished Baghdad district.

Abu Ghurayb.

Three men arrested in Abu Ghurayb Monday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 11:24am Baghdad time Monday
morning, the Yaqen News Agency reported that Iraqi
police arrested three residents of the town of Abu
Ghurayb, 30km west of Baghdad on Monday.

Baghdad.

Fourteen killed in continued US offensive in
impoverished Baghdad district.

In a dispatch posted at 4:45pm Baghdad time Monday
afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that 14
people had been killed and another 55 wounded in the
continued US offensive against the anti-occupation
Jaysh al-Mahdi militia in the east Baghdad district of
Madinat as-Sadr during the previous 24 hours.

Yaqen reported a source in the police as saying that
the casualty toll from the fighting between Sunday and
Monday mornings was based on information from the Imam
‘Ali and as-Sadr Hospitals, both in Madinat as-Sadr.
The source said that there was no breakdown as to how
many of the casualties had been combatants and how
many were civilians.

For the last two days, the Madinat as-Sadr area has
been an arena of fierce fighting between US and Jaysh
al-Mahdi fighters.  The Americans and their Iraqi
regime allies have had the district, a stronghold for
the anti-occupation Jaysh al-Mahdi militia, blockaded
for three weeks.

Two wounded in bomb blast in southeastern Baghdad.

In a dispatch posted at 4:16pm Baghdad time Monday
afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that a bomb
exploded in the Baghdad al-Jadidah area in the
southeastern part of the Iraqi capital.

Bombs explode by three employees of Iraqi regime
Council of Ministers in Baghdad.

In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 4:20pm
Monday afternoon Beijing time (12:20pm in Baghdad),
the Xinhua News Agency reported that three employees
of the Iraqi regime Council of Ministers were the
targets of bomb attacks in various parts of Baghdad.

Xinhua reported a source in the police as saying that
one bomb that had been planted in the car of
Lieutenant Colonel Mansur al-Lami, a security official
in the Council of Ministers, went off as he passed
through the ad-Durah suburb south of Baghdad on his
way to work.  Al-Lami was severely injured in the
attack.

A second bomb went off by the car of Zuhayr Tariq ‘Abd
ar-Razzaq, another employee of the Council of
Ministers, as his car passed near the Iraqi Red
Crescent headquarters in the upscale al-Mansur
district of western Baghdad.  ‘Abd ar-Razzaq was
wounded in that attack.

A third bomb went off by another Council of Ministers
employee whose name was not disclosed.  Three injured
people were hospitalized after that explosion the
police source told Xinhua.

Salah ad-Din Province.
Ad-Dujayl.

Police colonel wounded in drive-by shooting in
ad-Dujayl Sunday evening.

In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 6:43pm
Monday afternoon Beijing time (2:43pm in Baghdad), the
Xinhua News Agency reported that armed men in two
speeding cars shot and wounded Colonel Rabbah Hasan
at-Tamimi, the Director of the Civil Defence forces in
ad-Dujayl, 60km north of Baghdad, on Sunday evening.

Sulayman Bayk.

Police captain gunned down late Sunday night.

In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 6:43pm
Monday afternoon Beijing time (2:43pm in Baghdad), the
Xinhua News Agency reported that unknown armed men
opened fire on Captain Muhammad Sa‘id of the Salah
ad-Din Province police near his home in the Sulayman
Bayk area, 180km north of Baghdad, late on Sunday
night.

Ash-Sharuqat.

US forces arrest 11, including four Iraqi regime
security men, in raids near ash-Sharuqat Sunday night.

In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 6:43pm
Monday afternoon Beijing time (2:43pm in Baghdad), the
Xinhua News Agency reported that US troops carried out
raids and searches in the village of ‘Uwayjilah in the
area of ash-Sharuqat, 185km north of Baghdad,
beginning on Sunday night.

Diyala Province.
Ba‘qubah.

Woman belt bomber for al-Qa‘idah attacks “Awakening”
police in Ba‘qubah, killing three, wounding three
civilians.

In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 7:47pm
Monday evening Beijing time (3:47pm in Baghdad), the
Xinhua News Agency reported that a woman wearing an
explosive belt blew herself up amidst a group of
US-recruited “Awakening” tribal police in western
Ba‘qubah, 65km northeast of Baghdad.

Babil Province.
Al-Iskandariyah.

Unmanned US spy plane crashes near al-Iskandariyah
Monday afternoon.

In a dispatch posted at 11:11pm Baghdad time Monday
night, the Yaqen News Agency reported that an unmanned
US reconnaissance plane crashed near al-Iskandariyah,
40km south of Baghdad at 6pm local time Monday
afternoon.

At-Ta’mim Province.
Kirkuk.

US, Iraqi regime troops arrest 10 west of Kirkuk
Monday.

In a dispatch posted at 5pm Baghdad time Monday
afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that a force
of US and Iraqi regime troops raided and searched the
Nahrawan area between Sarkaran and ar-Rashad to the
west of Kirkuk on Monday.

Yaqen reported a source in the provincial police as
saying that two cars were confiscated and 10 people
arrested in the raids.

Kurdish separatist official wounded in bomb attack
Monday.

In a dispatch posted at 10:50am Baghdad time Monday
morning, the Yaqen News Agency reported that a bomb
exploded by the car in which an official with the
National Union of Kurdistan Party was riding in the
city of Kirkuk, 250km north of Baghdad, on Monday.

Yaqen reported a source in the Kirkuk police as saying
that Jabbar al-Hajj Jalal, an official with the
Relations Bureau of the Kurdish separatist party in
the city, was the target of a bombing.  The blast took
place as Jalal was driving to his office in the
at-Tayran Square neighborhood of the city and left him
and four of his companions wounded.  The explosion
also damaged his car.  All the men were taken to
Kirkuk General Hospital for treatment.

Al-Basrah.

Bomb explodes by British patrol north of al-Basrah
midday Monday.

In a dispatch posted at 9:03pm Baghdad time Monday
night, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq
(AMSI) reported that a bomb exploded by a British
patrol to the north of al-Basrah on Monday.
