Al-Anbar Province. Ar-Ramadi. US admits two Marines killed in car bomb attack in ar-Ramadi. In a dispatch posted at 9:35pm Baghdad time Tuesday night, the Yaqen News Agency reported that two US Marines were killed when a car bomb exploded by a checkpoint in ar-Ramadi. Car bomber wounds 29 in attack in ar-Ramadi Tuesday morning. In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 3:13pm Tuesday afternoon Beijing time (11:13am in Baghdad), the Xinhua News Agency reported that a car bomber blew his vehicle and himself up in an attack on an Iraqi police station in ar-Ramadi, 110km west of Baghdad on Tuesday morning. About 29 people were wounded in the attack. Xinhua reported a source in the ar-Ramadi police as saying that the explosion near the checkpoint in the as-Sufiyah section of eastern ar-Ramadi wounded about 20 civilians, among them four women and five children. Nine of the injured were policemen. Numerous civilian cars that were waiting to go through the checkpoint were damaged. The source said that all the injured were taken to hospital for treatment. Al-Qa‘idah is generally believed responsible for car bomber attacks in Iraq. Baghdad. Car bomb targets Iraqi army troops near restaurant in western Baghdad Tuesday afternoon. In a dispatch posted at 8:45pm Baghdad time Tuesday evening, the Yaqen News Agency reported that a car bomb exploded in Baghdad’s upscale al-Mansur district Tuesday afternoon. US announces kills in continued offensive in impoverished Baghdad district. In a dispatch posted at 3:10pm Baghdad time Tuesday afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that the US announced that its troops had killed five anti-occupation Jaysh al-Mahdi militiamen in the impoverished Madinat as-Sadr neighborhood of Baghdad, where the Americans have been waging an offensive for several weeks. Yaqen reported eyewitnesses as saying that fighting has continued in the area and US helicopters continue to prowl the skies overhead. The American communiqué announced that US troops in an M-1 tank and a Bradley Fighting Vehicle shot and killed three armed men late on Monday evening after a bomb planted by the side of the road had exploded by a US vehicle. The US statement added that in another American attack on the Madinat as-Sadr district, a US Apache helicopter gunship fired a rocket at armed men carrying a rocket-propelled grenade. Two of the men were killed, the US statement announced. Eyewitnesses who live in the Madinat as-Sadr area, a stronghold of support for the anti-occupation Shi‘i religious leader Muqtada as-Sadr, reported that they had seen a US aircraft blasting several neighborhoods in Madinat as-Sadr but had no information on the nature or extent of casualties. The US has been prosecuting an offensive against the Jaysh al-Mahdi militia, loyal to Muqtada as-Sadr for three weeks in what is believed to be an effort to clear the way for an eventual American attack on Iran. In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 5:57pm Tuesday afternoon Beijing time (1:57pm in Baghdad), the Xinhua News Agency reported that armed men attacked an employee of the Civil Services Department in Baghdad at a transportation stop in the ash-Shu‘lah district of northern Baghdad before noon Tuesday. In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 5:57pm Tuesday afternoon Beijing time (1:57pm in Baghdad), the Xinhua News Agency reported that a bomb exploded by an Iraqi police patrol in the southeastern Baghdad district of az-Za‘faraniyah, wounding five people, two of them civilians, before noon Tuesday. Ash-Sharuqat. US troops kill Iraqi in raid near ash-Sharuqat Tuesday morning. In a dispatch posted at 2:50pm Baghdad time Tuesday afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that a joint force of US and Iraqi regime troops raided homes in a village near ash-Sharuqat, 185km north of Baghdad, on Tuesday morning. Diyala Province. Jalawla’. Belt bomber kills five policemen in Jalawla’ Tuesday. In a dispatch posted at 10:06pm Baghdad time Tuesday night, the Yaqen News Agency reported that a person wearing an explosive belt blew himself up near the Jalawla’ government police headquarters, 120km northeast of Baghdad, on Tuesday. Ninwa Province. Al-Mawsil. Car bomb near government building wounds four Tuesday. In a dispatch posted at 4:05pm Baghdad time Tuesday afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported thata car bomb exploded near the Ninwa Province government building in al-Mawsil, 420km northwest of Baghdad on Tuesday. In a dispatch posted at 9:35pm Baghdad time Tuesday night, the Yaqen News Agency reported that one US Marine was killed and a second wounded in a bomb explosion in al-Basrah Province on Monday.
