Baghdad.

US air strike in western Baghdad kills two, wounds
five Thursday night.

In a dispatch posted at 2:47pm Baghdad time Friday
afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that
American forces had struck the al-‘Amil neighborhood
in western Baghdad during Thursday-Friday night.

Yaqen reported a medical source in al-Yarmuk Hospital
as saying that his facility received two bodies of
people who had been killed in the American attack and
in addition five wounded persons were admitted for
treatment from wounds received in the same
bombardment.

Al-Mahawil.

US, Iraqi regime forces seal off al-Mahawil.

In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 4:39pm
Friday afternoon Beijing time (12:39pm in Baghdad),
the Xinhua News Agency reported that US forces
together with their Iraqi army allies sealed off the
city of al-Mahawil, 65km south of Baghdad, and
launched a campaign of raids and searches there.

Al-Hillah.

US patrol opens fire on Iraqi police column north of
al-Hillah Thursday night, wounding four.

In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 4:39pm
Friday afternoon Beijing time (12:39pm in Baghdad),
the Xinhua News Agency reported that a US patrol
opened fire on a column of Iraqi government “Scorpion”
police north of al-Hillah, 100km south of Baghdad, on
Thursday night.

Xinhua reported a source in the police as saying that
the American “friendly fire” attack took place as the
column was on its way to Baghdad.  Four of the
“Scorpion” policemen were wounded in the apparently
accidental attack, and six Iraqi police vehicles were
damaged.  The wounded men were transported to
hospitals for treatment.  Meanwhile, the US occupation
forces and those of the Iraqi regime have launched an
investigation into how the event took place.

Al-Mawsil.

Iraqi regime forces round up 11 following bomb attack
on government troops.

In a dispatch posted at 3:14pm Baghdad time Friday
afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that Iraqi
regime forces arrested 11 people on charges of setting
off a bomb near an Iraqi army patrol in al-Mawsil,
420km northwest of Baghdad on Thursday.

US admits crash of unmanned spy plane in southern Iraq
early Friday morning.

In a dispatch posted at 4:22pm Baghdad time Friday
afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that the US
military had announced that one of its unmanned spy
planes had crashed near the US Imam ‘Ali Airbase in
Dhi Qar Province early Friday morning.

Yaqen reported a US communiqué as announcing the crash
of an MQ-1 Predator unmanned reconnaissance aircraft
at about 4am local time.  The American statement gave
no reason for the crash.

Al-Basrah Province.

Sniper wounds Iraqi army soldier in al-Basrah.

In a dispatch posted at 5:35pm Baghdad time Friday
afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that a
sniper had shot and wounded a soldier in the Iraqi
government army in the al-Barradi‘iyah district of the
southern Iraqi city of al-Basrah.
