· Fighting rages between US forces and Jaysh al-Mahdi
in Baghdad’s ash-Shu‘lah area Monday. Iraqi regime
troops drag out patients, shut down hospital in
ash-Shu‘lah.
· Three dead, 44 wounded in 24 hours as US continues
offensive against Madinat as-Sadr.
· Five mortar shells slam into “Green Zone.”
· Three civilians wounded in US attack in Tikrit at
dawn Monday.
Baghdad.
Fighting rages between US forces and Jaysh al-Mahdi in
Baghdad’s ash-Shu‘lah area Monday. Iraqi regime
troops drag out patients, shut down hospital in
ash-Shu‘lah.
In a dispatch posted at 7pm Baghdad time Monday
afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that Iraqi
government troops raided the al-Hakim Hospital in the
ash-Shu‘lah area of Baghdad.
Yaqen reported Dr. Yasin ‘Abd al-Hasan ar-Rukkabi, the
Director of al-Hakim Hospital, as saying that the
government forces ordered wounded and sick patients
taken out of the facility and prevented the hospital
from admitting any more injured persons for treatment.
Meanwhile, eyewitnesses reported that Shi‘i mosques
controlled by the anti-occupation Jaysh al-Mahdi
militia were calling on local residents to continue to
resist the American and Iraqi regime onslaught on
their neighborhood.
A source in the Sadr Office in ash-Shu‘lah said that
US forces together with their Iraqi regime allies
attacked the district from four directions on Monday
morning – striking from al-Ghazaliyah, Abu Ghurayb,
al-Kazimiyah, and at-Taji – in an assault focused on
the 11th, 12th, and 13th districts in the area which
remains blockaded by US and regime troops.
Fierce fighting was reported raging in the area
between the Jaysh al-Mahdi and the occupation troops.
Earlier on Monday, the director of ash-Shu‘lah
Hospital declared that there were large numbers of
dead and wounded in the district but no specific
numbers were available.
Meanwhile, US troops raided the Sadr Office Center in
Baghdad’s al-Karakh district. Residents of the area
were reporting heavy casualties in the fighting
between the Americans and the anti-occupation Jaysh
al-Mahdi militia.
The US is pressing its offensive against the Jaysh
al-Mahdi and its parent Sadr Movement with the
apparent aim of preparing for an eventual attack on
Iran.
Three dead, 44 wounded in 24 hours as US continues
offensive against Madinat as-Sadr.
In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 7:36pm
Monday afternoon Beijing time (3:36pm in Baghdad), the
Xinhua News Agency reported a doctor in the Imam ‘Ali
Hospital in Madinat as-Sadr as telling the press that
his hospital had received three bodies and admitted 26
wounded people in the previous 24 hours as the US
continued its offensive against the anti-occupation
Jaysh al-Mahdi militia. He said that another 18
wounded people sought treatment in the as-Sadr
Hospital, also located in the impoverished Madinat
as-Sadr area.
A source in the Interior Ministry said that during
Sunday night there were intermittent attacks on Iraqi
and American army patrols in various neighborhoods of
northern and western Baghdad as well.
Xinhua reported a source in the Iraqi Interior
Ministry as saying that fighting raged in several
neighborhoods of the city, leaving one person dead and
seven more wounded in the continuing American
offensive against the Jaysh al-Mahdi which is believed
to be preparation for an eventual US attack on Iran.
Five mortar shells slam into “Green Zone.”
In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 4:37pm
Monday afternoon Beijing time (12:37pm in Baghdad),
the Xinhua News Agency reported that five mortar
shells blasted into the top-security area dubbed the
“Green Zone” by the US occupation forces in Baghdad.
Xinhua reported a source in the Iraqi government
police as saying that no information on the nature or
extent of casualties was available.
Bomb explodes by Assyrian Party headquarters in
eastern Baghdad.
In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 4:37pm
Monday afternoon Beijing time (12:37pm in Baghdad),
the Xinhua News Agency reported that a bomb exploded
by the headquarters of the Assyrian Party in the
Zuyunah district of eastern Baghdad.
Bomb explodes by government army patrol in eastern
Baghdad.
In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 4:37pm
Monday afternoon Beijing time (12:37pm in Baghdad),
the Xinhua News Agency reported that a bomb exploded
by an Iraqi army patrol in the Muhammad as-Sukran
district of eastern Baghdad.
Mortar shells wound two in al-Karradah.
In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 4:37pm
Monday afternoon Beijing time (12:37pm in Baghdad),
the Xinhua News Agency reported that two mortar shells
of unknown origin landed in the al-Hurriyah commercial
complex in central Baghdad’s al-Karradah district.
Vice President of Baghdad University gunned down.
In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 4:32pm
Monday afternoon Beijing time (12:32pm in Baghdad),
the Xinhua News Agency reported that armed men in a
car shot and killed Dr. Iyyad Hamzah, the Vice
President of Baghdad University, in front of his home
in the upscale al-Mansur district of Baghdad.
US forces raid Baghdad neighborhood, arrest Muqtada
as-Sadr supporters Monday morning.
In a dispatch posted at 11:09am Baghdad time Monday
morning, the Yaqen News Agency reported that US and
Iraqi regime troops carried out raids, searches, and
arrests in the ash-Shu‘lah district of Baghdad,
storming into the office of the Sadr movement and
arresting a number of staff members there.
Salah ad-Din Province.
Tikrit.
Three civilians wounded in US attack in Tikrit at dawn
Monday.
In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 5:18pm
Monday afternoon Beijing time (1:18pm in Baghdad), the
Xinhua News Agency reported that US forces opened fire
on the home of Ahmad Dalaf in the al-Qadisiyah
neighborhood of northern Tikrit, 180km north of
Baghdad at dawn on Monday.
Yathrib.
Soldier wounded in shooting at checkpoint.
In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 5:18pm
Monday afternoon Beijing time (1:18pm in Baghdad), the
Xinhua News Agency reported that men equipped with
light arms opened fire on a checkpoint manned by Iraqi
army troops in the Tall adh-Dhahab area of Yathrib,
70km north of Baghdad during Sunday-Monday night.
Diyala Province.
Al-Miqdadiyah.
Two tribal policemen killed in attack near
al-Miqdadiyah.
In a dispatch posted at 4:33pm Baghdad time Monday
afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that a group
of armed men attacked the home of a commander in the
US-backed “Awakening” tribal police in the village of
al-Makhisah in the Abu Sayda area to the northeast of
al-Miqdadiyah, 185km northeast of Baghdad.
Yaqen reported a source in the al-Miqdadiyah police as
saying that an armed battle took place between the
attackers and the tribal policemen in which two of the
police were killed and five others were wounded. Two
of the attackers were killed in the clash as well, the
source said. After the arrival of government
reinforcements, the attackers slipped away from the
area.
Mandali.
Judge assassinated.
In a dispatch posted at 11:55am Baghdad time Monday
morning, the Yaqen News Agency reported that armed men
assassinated a judge in the city of Mandali near the
Iranian border northeast of Baghdad.
Yaqen reported that attackers armed with machine guns
shot and killed Judge Mahir Hambib al-Hamidi in the
Mandali area. No further details were available.

Kirkuk.
Bomb targets government police patrol in Kirkuk
Monday.
In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 5:31pm
Monday afternoon Beijing time (1:31pm in Baghdad), the
Xinhua News Agency reported that a bomb exploded by a
patrol of Iraqi government police in Kirkuk, 250km
north of Baghdad on Monday.
Wasit Province.
Al-Kut.
Iraqi regime security forces raid Sadr Office in
al-Kut early Monday.
In a dispatch posted at 5:45pm Baghdad time Monday
afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that Iraqi
regime security forces raided the headquarters of the
anti-occupation Sadr Movement in al-Kut, 180km
southeast of Baghdad.
