Baghdad.

Three Baghdad municipal services workers gunned down
as they do their jobs Sunday.

In a dispatch posted at 4:25pm Baghdad time Sunday
afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that three
Baghdad city service workers in were killed on Sunday
and a fourth city worker wounded in two separate
attacks carried out by gunmen in the areas of
al-Ghadir and Baghdad al-Jadidah in southeastern
Baghdad Sunday.

Yaqen reported a source in the Baghdad city services
department as saying that gunmen attacked three
municipal sanitation workers in al-Ghadir as they were
doing their jobs, spraying them with a hail of
bullets.  Two of the city workers were killed on the
spot and a third was severely wounded and taken to a
nearby hospital for treatment.

In a second attack, gunmen shot and killed a Baghdad
municipal sanitation worker as he was doing his job in
the Baghdad al-Jadidah area of the city.

Resistance group claims credit for bomb attack on US
Humvee somewhere in al-Anbar province.

In a dispatch posted at 3:10pm Baghdad time Sunday
afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that the
Jaysh al-Mulsimeen resistance group had claimed
responsibility for an attack that destroyed a US
Humvee in al-Anbar Province.

Yaqen reported a communiqué dated Sunday as saying
that fighters belonging to the Jaysh al-Muslimeen, a
constituent member of the Front for Jihad and Change,
had detonated a bomb by a US Humvee somewhere in
al-Anbar Province.  The communiqué, which failed to
specify when or where the attack took place or to
provide any other details, said only that the vehicle
was “destroyed” and claimed that the US troops aboard
it had been killed.

Salah ad-Din Province.
Samarra’.

Resistance group claims to fire pipe rocket at US base
in Samarra’.

In a dispatch posted at 5:50pm Baghdad time Sunday
afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that the
Iraqi resistance group known as the Jaysh
ar-Rashideen, a member of the Front for Jihad and
Change, had issued a communiqué in which it claimed to
have fired one S5K rocket at an unnamed US base in
Samarra’, which is located 120km north of Baghdad.
The communiqué did not specify a time or date of the
attack.

Diyala Province.
Al-‘Azim.

Ten tribal “Awakening” policemen killed in mortar
barrage near al-‘Azim Sunday evening.

In a dispatch posted at 12:07am Baghdad time just
after midnight Monday morning, the Association of
Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that 10
members of the tribal “Awakening” police were killed
and 24 more of them wounded when mortar shells landed
at their checkpoint in the area of al-‘Azim, 120km
north of Baghdad, on Sunday evening.

Ba‘qubah.

Woman belt bomber blows up, killing 20 people in
Ba‘qubah midday Sunday.

In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 7:24pm
Sunday afternoon Beijing time (3:24pm in Baghdad), the
Xinhua News Agency reported that a woman wearing an
explosive belt blew herself up in a complex of
government buildings in Ba‘qubah, 65km northeast of
Baghdad, at midday Sunday.

In a dispatch posted at 8pm Baghdad time Sunday
evening, the Yaqen News Agency reported that the
casualty toll in the belt bombing attack stood at 20
people killed and more than 40 more wounded.

Babil Province.
Al-Mahawil.

US forces arrest anti-occupation Sadr official in
Babil Province.

In a dispatch posted at 10:35am Baghdad time Sunday
morning, the Yaqen News Agency reported that US
occupation troops arrested the Executive Director of
the anti-occupation Sadr Office in Babil Province,
Haydar al-Mayyali along with his brother.

Yaqen reported a source in the government police as
saying that the Americans raided al-Mayyali’s home in
the al-Bida‘ area near al-Mahawil, 65km south of
Baghdad on Saturday night.

Since March, the US-backed Iraqi regime has been
actively engaged in an offensive against the
anti-occupation Sadr Movement and its armed wing, the
Jaysh al-Mahdi militia, in Iraq, in what is believed
to be preparation for an American attack on Iran.

At-Ta’mim Province/Kirkuk.
Kirkuk.

Bomb kills three civilians southwest of Kirkuk Sunday.

In a dispatch posted at 3:30pm Baghdad time Sunday
afternoon, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq
(AMSI) reported that three people, two of them women,
were killed and two more people wounded when a bomb
exploded by their car southwest of  Kirkuk, 250km
north of Baghdad, on Sunday.  It was the second
bombing in the province on Sunday.

The AMSI reported Brigadier General Sarhad Qadir as
saying that the bomb went off by a civilian car near
ad-Dakmat village in the ar-Rashad area, 30km
southwest of Kirkuk, killing a man and two women and
wounding two other people.

Earlier, Qadir had announced that a bomb had gone off
near the Department of Invalids and the Red Crescent
offices  to the southwest of Kirkuk.  That blast
caused nor damage or casualties, however.

Ninwa Province.
Al-Mawsil.

Car bomber wounds 14 people in Sunday afternoon attack
in al-Mawsil.

In a dispatch posted at 8:39pm Baghdad time Sunday
evening, the Yaqen News Agency reported that a car
bomber attacked a checkpoint manned by Iraqi
government police to the southeast of al-Mawsil, 420km
northwest of Baghdad, on Sunday afternoon.

Yaqen reported a source in the local police as saying
that a car bomber blew himself up by a checkpoint in
the al-Wahdah area of eastern al-Mawsil, wounding 14
people, four of them policemen.  All the wounded were
taken to nearby as-Salam Hospital for treatment.

Since 10 May, the US and its Iraqi regime allies have
been engaged in an offensive against the al-Qa‘idah
organization in the city of al-Mawsil.

Al-Basrah Province.
Al-Basrah.

In a dispatch posted at 11:05am Baghdad time Sunday
morning, the Yaqen News Agency reported that Iraqi
government forces arrested five more members of the
anti-occupation Jaysh al-Mahdi militia in the southern
province of al-Basrah in the last 24 hours.

Yaqen reported a source in the al-Basrah Province
police as saying that raids and searches in various
parts of the province resulted in the arrest of five
Jaysh al-Mahdi militiamen.  In addition, the source
said, the Iraqi regime’s Interior Ministry seized 37
Iranian-made rockets in the Nahran ‘Umar area, 40km
north of al-Basrah, and 15 mortar shells in addition
to finding two electronic discs for firing Katyusha
rockets in the az-Zubayr area.

Since March, the US-backed Iraqi regime has been
