Double bombing kills policemen, civilians in al-Fallujah Wednesday
morning.
In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 4:17pm Wednesday afternoon
Beijing time (11:17am in Baghdad), the Xinhua News Agency reported that
two bombs exploded in the city of al-Fallujah, 60km west of Baghdad, on
Wednesday morning.
Xinhua reported a source in the local police as saying that the first
bomb went off near the al-Fallujah courthouse. Then, after a crowd of
policemen and civilians gathered in the area to help the victims, a
second bomb exploded. Four policemen and two civilians were killed and
more than 18 people wounded in the double bombing according to
preliminary figures. The injured were taken to al-Fallujah General
Hospital following the attack, many of them with severe injuries.
In recent days there has been an evident resurgence of the al-Qa‘idah
organization in al-Fallujah following nearly two years of quiet, during
which time the US-backed tribal “Awakening” police had kept al-Qa‘idah
out of the area.

Samarra’.
US reports death of American soldier in Samarra’ attack on Wednesday.
In a dispatch posted at 8:50pm Baghdad time Wednesday night, the Yaqen
News Agency reported that armed men attacked a US patrol in Samarra’,
120km north of Baghdad on Wednesday.
Yaqen reported a spokesman for the US military as announcing that one
American soldier had been killed and two more of them wounded in the
attack on their patrol. It was the third US soldier whose death the
American military had announced in the month of July.
Ad-Dulu‘iyah.
Three tribal policemen badly wounded in rocket attack.
In a dispatch posted at 7:55pm Baghdad time Wednesday evening, the Yaqen
News Agency reported that a rocket struck a roadblock manned by tribal
“Awakening” police east of the city of ad-Dulu‘iyah, 97km north of
Baghdad.

Group claims bombing attack on US minesweeper.
In a dispatch posted at 6:23pm Baghdad time Wednesday afternoon, the
Yaqen News Agency reported that the Iraqi resistance group known as the
Mujahideen of the Army of the Men of the Naqshbadiyah Order – a Sufi
religious group with close ties to the Iraqi Baath Party – issued a
communiqué on Wednesday taking credit for a bomb attack that destroyed a
US mine sweeper in Ninwa Province.
Car bomber kills five civilians in attack in eastern al-Mawsil
Wednesday.
In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 8:55pm Wednesday evening
Beijing time (3:55pm in Baghdad), the Xinhua News Agency reported that a
car bomber blasted into a motorcade associated with Staff Major General
Riyad Jalal Tawfiq, Commander of Operations for Ninwa Province, in an
attack near the Traffic Directorate building in the al-Faysaliyah area
of eastern al-Mawsil, 420km northwest of Baghdad.
Xinhua reported a source in the Iraqi government police as saying that
the attack killed five civilians and wounded 22 other people, seven of
them bodyguards working for General Tawfiq. Four private cars and three
Iraqi army cars were burned up in the attack.
The source said that General Tawfiq was not in the motorcade at the time
of the incident, which also damaged the Traffic Directorate building and
several other nearby structures.

offensive against the al-Qa‘idah organization in al-Mawsil and
surrounding Ninwa Province.
Iraqi army patrol ambushed, one soldier wounded Wednesday afternoon.
In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 8:19pm Wednesday evening
Beijing time (3:19pm in Baghdad), the Xinhua News Agency reported that
gunmen equipped with light arms attacked an Iraqi army checkpoint in the
al-Islah az-Zira‘i neighborhood of western al-Mawsil, 420km northwest of
Baghdad, after noon on Wednesday.
Xinhua reported a source in the local security services as saying that
one soldier was wounded in the attack.

bomb exploded by an Iraqi army patrol in the al-Islah az-Zira‘i
neighborhood of western al-Mawsil, 420km northwest of Baghdad.

the blast wounded one of the soldiers in the patrol.

Iranian artillery blasts positions of Kurdish separatists backed by US
in northern Iraq.
In a dispatch posted at 10:50am Baghdad time Wednesday morning, Yaqen
News Agency reported that Iranian artillery pounded positions of the
American-backed PJAK Kurdish separatist militia in the area of Bashdar,
160km northeast of as-Sulaymaniyah on
Sunday morning.
Yaqen reported a source in the Iraqi regime as saying that the Iranian
bombardment began around midnight Tuesday-Wednesday and that the intense
barrage targeted the villages of Alayat Rashsh and Dawlah Kawkah in the
area of Zarawah in the district of Bashdar. The bombardment continued
until 3am local time, the Iraqi regime source said.
No casualties had been reported as of the time of reporting, but
residents in the area had already begun evacuating the area which is a
staging area for US-backed Kurdish separatists who stage attacks across
the border in Iran.
For several days, in the first week of June, Iranian artillery carried
on daily bombardments of fighters of he PJAK Kurdish separatist fighters
near the Iranian
border in northern Iraq.
The PJAK Movement, a branch of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK),
reportedly receives arms, training, and targeting information from the
US and “Israel” and
carries out repeated attacks on Iranian territory from US-occupied
Iraq. PJAK’s aim is the overthrow of the Iranian government and its
replacement with a western-dominated regime.
