Report: US patrol ambushed north of al-Hadithah.

In a dispatch posted at 9:45am Baghdad time Thursday morning, the Yaqen News Agency reported that a US foot patrol came under attack in the Wadi al-Khamsah area to the north of al-Hadithah, 270km northwest of Baghdad on Wednesday.

Baghdad.

Resistance group claims attack on US support vehicle in al-Qadisiyah Province.

In a dispatch posted at 10:15pm Baghdad time Thursday night, the Yaqen News Agency reported that the Iraqi resistance group known as the Jaysh ar-Rashidin had issued a communiqué claiming to have detonated a bomb by a logistical support vehicle for the US occupation forces somewhere in al-Qadisiyah Province.  The communiqué declared that the blast, the time and precise location of which were not specified, damaged the vehicle and wounded crewmen aboard it.

Resistance group claims rocket attack on US camp in at-Ta’mim/Kirkuk Province.

In a dispatch posted at 5:35pm Baghdad time Thursday afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that the Iraqi Resistance group known as the Jaysh ar-Rashidin had issued a communiqué claiming to have fired rockets at an unnamed US camp somewhere in at-Ta’mim/Kirkuk Province.

Resistance group claims attack on US convoy in southern Baghdad.

In a dispatch posted at 12:10pm Baghdad time Thursday afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that the Iraqi resistance group known as the Brigades of the 1920 Revolution had issued a communiqué dated 16 July in which it announced that its fighters had detonated a bomb by a US military supply column on the highway in the al-Islah Village area to the south of Baghdad.

Bomb wounds two civilians in southeastern Baghdad.

In a dispatch posted on its Arabic website at 3:55pm Thursday afternoon Beijing time (10:55am in Baghdad), the Xinhua News Agency reported that a bomb had exploded by a US patrol in southeastern Baghdad.

Xinhua reported a source in the Iraqi police as saying that the bomb went off near the al-Ghadir Bridge in southeastern Baghdad and that it wounded two Iraqi civilians who happened to be passing through the area at the time.  The source said that the Americans closed off the area quickly after the blast, making it impossible to ascertain whether there had been any US casualties or not.

Resistance group claims attack on Camp Anaconda.

In a dispatch posted at 12:10pm Baghdad time Thursday afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that the Iraqi resistance group known as the Brigades of the 1920 Revolution had issued a communiqué dated 16 July in which it announced that its fighters had bombarded the US-occupied al-Bakr Air Base, located 68km north of Baghdad, with mortars.

Resistance group claims two-rocket attack on US base in Balad.

In a dispatch posted at 12:10pm Baghdad time Thursday afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that the Iraqi resistance group known as the Brigades of the 1920 Revolution had issued a communiqué dated 16 July in which it announced that its fighters had fired two S-8 rockets at an unnamed US base in Balad, 70km north of Baghdad.

Sulayman Bak.

Resistance group claims credit for bomb attack disabling Humvee near Sulayman Bak.

In a dispatch posted at 12:10pm Baghdad time Thursday afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that the Iraqi resistance group known as the Brigades of the 1920 Revolution had issued a communiqué dated 16 July in which it announced that its fighters had set off a bomb under a US Humvee in the area of Sulayman Bak, 180km north of Baghdad, disabling the vehicle.  The communiqué did not specify when the attack had taken place or provide details regarding the nature or number of casualties it might have caused.

In a dispatch posted at 12:10pm Baghdad time Thursday afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that the Iraqi resistance group known as the Brigades of the 1920 Revolution had issued a communiqué dated 16 July in which it announced that its fighters had set off a bomb by a US Humvee on the highway between Tikrit (180km north of Baghdad) and Bayji, (about 20km further north).

Ba‘qubah.

Mayor of Ba‘qubah arrested for helping al-Qa‘idah.

In a dispatch posted at 12:45pm Baghdad time Thursday afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that US troops accompanied by Iraqi regime forces had arrested the Chairman of the Municipal Council of Ba‘qubah, capital of Diyala Province, 65km northeast of Baghdad.

Yaqen reported a source in the provincial government – who asked not to be identified – as saying that the US and Iraqi regime troops arrested the Ba‘qubah Council Chairman, Ra‘d ad-Dahlaki, in his office at the Municipal Council building, charging him with providing assistance to al-Qa‘idah.

Bomb explodes in Hizballah headquarters in an-Nasiriyah.

In a dispatch posted at 3:48pm Baghdad time Thursday afternoon, the Yaqen News Agency reported that a bomb exploded by the main headquarters of the Hizballah Movement in an-Nasiriyah, 320km southeast of Baghdad, on Thursday.

Yaqen reported the Director of Public Relations and Information in the Police Command for Dhi Qar Province, Colonel Sadiq al-Mashrafawi, as saying that a percussion bomb had been placed in a plastic bag and left in front of the main Hizballah headquarters.  A guard at the door brought the bag inside the building to open it and inspect it but it blew up, wounding the guard.

Witnesses reported, however, that they had seen three wounded people being brought out of the building after hearing the sound of a loud explosion.

Yaqen noted that there are two political organizations bearing the name Hizballah in Iraq.  One of them is the Hizballah that is led by the State Minister for Lakes, Hasan as-Sari.  The other party is the Hizballah al-‘Iraqi, which is led by former member of the National Grouping, ‘Abd al-Karim Mahud, a former member of the Patriotic Association.

Policeman killed in surprise attack on checkpoint south of al-Mawsil Thursday.

In a dispatch posted at 11:43pm Baghdad time Thursday night, the Association of Muslim Scholars of Iraq (AMSI) reported that gunmen in four pickups with mounted DShK “Dushka” heavy machine guns attacked a checkpoint manned by Outer Road Guard forces in the al-‘Arbid area, 10km south of al-Mawsil (which is 420km northwest of Baghdad), on Thursday.

The AMSI reported a source in the provincial government police who refused to be identified as saying that the surprise attack left one policeman dead and three more of them wounded.
