· In continued preparations for American attack on Iran, Iraqi regime
police arrest five anti-occupation Jaysh al-Mahdi militiamen in raids,
searches in al-Basrah.

Four “Awakening” policemen shot in attack in Baghdad’s al-A‘zamiyah Thursday
morning.
In a dispatch posted at 5:15pm Baghdad time Friday afternoon, the Yaqen News
Agency reported that Riyad Hadi Muhsin, an official with the tribal
“Awakening” in the Sunni Baghdad district of al-A‘zamiyah announced that
three members of the “Awakening” police had been shot to death and a fourth
wounded in an attack there early Thursday morning.
Yaqen reported Muhsin as saying that armed men equipped with pistols fitted
with silencers shot and killed two of the “Awakening” policemen in the al-Kamm
area of al-A‘zamiyah at about 6am local time Thursday morning. The
attackers fled but other members of the “Awakening” opened fire on them and
a gun battle ensued. Two more of the “Awakening” policemen were killed in
the exchange and another “Awakening” policeman wounded.

Gunmen kill woman in her home in al-Mawsil.
In a dispatch posted at 3:06pm Baghdad time Friday afternoon, the Yaqen News
Agency reported that armed men burst into the home of a woman the al-Karamah
neighborhood of eastern al-Mawsil, 420km northwest of Baghdad, and shot her
dead on the spot.
Yaqen reported a source in the Ninwa Province security forces who asked not
to be identified as saying that the 41-year-old woman had been the head of
the household. Her body was turned over to the Forensic Medicine
Department.
Since 10 May, the US and its Iraqi regime allies have been waging an
offensive against the al-Qa‘idah organization in al-Mawsil and surrounding
Ninwa Province.

In continued preparations for American attack on Iran, Iraqi regime police
arrest five anti-occupation Jaysh al-Mahdi militiamen in raids, searches in
al-Basrah.
In a dispatch posted at 6:10aghdad time Friday afternoon, the Yaqen News
Agency reported that the Iraqi government police had carried out raids in
various parts of al-Basrah in southern Iraq on Thursday and arrested five
more members of the anti-occupation Jaysh al-Mahdi militia.
Yaqen reported a source in the al-Basrah Province police as saying that the
Iraqi regime forces carried out raids in various parts of the province and
in addition to arresting five Jaysh al-Mahdi militiamen, the troops also
confiscated fifty 120mm mortar shells in the Jasim River in the Shatt
al-‘Arab area and one RPG-7 rocket propelled grenade in the Internal
Security area.
Since March, the US-backed Iraqi regime has been actively engaged in an
offensive against the anti-occupation Sadr Movement and its armed wing, the
Jaysh al-Mahdi militia, in Iraq, in what is believed to be preparation for
an American attack on Iran.
