Al-Anbar Province.

Ar-Ramadi.

Iraqi Resistance shoots down US helicopter northeast of ar-Ramadi Thursday evening.

In a dispatch posted at 5:55pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that Iraqi Resistance fighters shot down a US helicopter in the as-Surah area northeast of ar-Ramadi on Thursday evening.

The ar-Ramadi correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses coming from the as-Sufiayh area as saying that the Resistance battled a column of US troops there for about an hour and a half and then the Americans brought in two helicopter gunships to try to assist the beleaguered column.  But the Resistance was able to shoot down one of the aircraft.

Villagers in the as-Surah area reported that US troops imposed a total blockade on the area in an attempt to prevent news of the engagement and the loss of the helicopter from leaking out.

After two months, US blockade of ar-Ramadi threatens 9,000 children with death; 189 children, 78 women have already died in American bombardments in the city during the last two months, 35 pregnant women died because blockade blocked access to hospitals.

In a dispatch posted at 11:35am Makkah time Friday morning, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that the Charity Association for Orphans in al-Anbar Province announced on Thursday that 9,000 orphans are facing death as a result of US blockades of villages and neighborhoods around ar-Ramadi, about 110km west of Baghdad.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported Dr. Fawwaz Hamad, the Director of the Charity Society for Orphans, an organization set up following the first Battle of al-Fallujah in spring 2004, declared in a statement that the US blockade on districts of ar-Ramadi and nearby villages had entered its second month.  It is a particularly savage blockade because all vital services have been cut off, including water, electricity, and medicine, putting 9,000 children under the age of five in danger of death.

Dr. Hamad said that their Society had called on humanitarian, Islamic, and international bodies to act to save the children in ar-Ramadi, but the calls fell on deaf ears.

During the two months of American blockade on ar-Ramadi, 189 children have died in American bombardments.

Seventy-eight Iraqi women were killed in US bombardments during the same two month period.

Thirty-five pregnant women have died during that period because they were not allowed access to hospitals or ambulance service.

The Americans have bulldozed over 100 hectares of farmland and seized 76 houses in ar-Ramadi alone, the statement said, during the same two-month period.  Another 214 houses of Iraqis were taken over and turned into American billets or headquarters.

The statement ended by saying that another 9,000 local children are awaiting death if the US blockade continues without relief, and more women are likely to die in the American bombardments.

The Ba‘qubah correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported local residents as saying that a force of American soldiers on foot accompanied by black-clad Shi‘i sectarian death squad members entered the ad-Dulaym neighborhood in the middle of the city at 2am today, Friday.

Local people went up on their rooftops and opened fire intensively on the intruding US troops and their and their sectarian death squad allies, killing a number of Americans and sectarian militiamen.

The US troops responded by firing guided missiles into houses, killing the family of al-Hajj Ghadban ‘Abd ad-Dulaymi.  Three houses were destroyed in this manner.  The Americans and their sectarian allies also arrested 26 local residents, among them women and children, forcibly dragging them from their homes.  Some of the women were taken without their headscarves.  The fate of the abducted captives remained unknown at the time of reporting.

In a dispatch posted at 2:30pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that residents of the ad-Dulyam neighborhood had dug the bodies of six members of Ghadban ad-Dulaymi’s family out of the rubble of their house.

The correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that after the battle the members of the pro-American Shi‘i sectarian death squad deployed around the area to carry on with their original mission which was reportedly to kill a number of local individuals.

American troops prevented journalists from taking pictures of the victims after they were extracted from the rubble of their home, threatening to arrest anyone trying to do so.

The Kirkuk correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported that US Marines and the 4th Division of the Iraqi puppet army posted leaflets announcing their sweep and asking local people to help them against what they called “al-Qa‘idah.”  The correspondent noted that the Iraqi puppet army acknowledged that it had lost 31 of its troops killed in recent days in the areas around al-Hawijah and ar-Riyadh.

In a dispatch posted at 2:15pm Makkah time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that at that hour a total of 43 local people had been arrested, some as young as 15 in the sweep, according to Muhammad al-‘Ubaydi, the local mayor (mukhtar) of ar-Riyad.  The mayor added that the Americans and their Iraqi puppet allies were also robbing many of the houses they raided.
