reported that earlier on Sunday the US military had admitted that one
more of its soldiers had been killed in occupied Iraq.
The AMSI reported the Americans as
announcing that a bomb exploded near a military vehicle in which a US

hiding facts regarding its losses in occupied Iraq, the US communiqué
offered few details of the deadly attack.
Shi‘i sectarian torture,
murder spree continues: 18 more bodies – including two women – found
dumped in various parts of Baghdad.
In a dispatch posted at 9:43pm

reported that the puppet police recovered the bodies of 18 more victims
of sectarian murder in Baghdad on Sunday.
The AMSI reported that two of the

al-Hurriyah.
The sources in the puppet police
said that most of the bodies were found bound and blindfolded. They
exhibited signs of torture – a trademark of the Shi‘i sectarian militias
and the US-backed security forces, most of whose members are drawn from
those sectarian militias.

Saturday the puppet police recovered the bodies of 21 victims of

US-backed Sunni sectarian
gunmen storm historic mosque in Baghdad Sunday.
In a dispatch posted on its
website Sunday, Quds Press reported that members of an armed
militia backed by the US occupation and Iraqi puppet regime took over
the historic Abu Hanifah an-Nu‘man Mosque in Baghdad northern
al-A‘zamiyah district on Sunday.
A large force of gunmen of the
so-called “Army of the Awakening” (Jaysh as-Sahwah) under the leadership
of an individual named Wathiq al-‘Ubaydi drove up to the mosque in
pickups on Sunday, beat up the guards at the mosque and then stormed
inside. The pro-American Sunni fundamentalist gunmen were equipped with
light and medium weapons and arrived under the protection of US troops
who remained surrounding, but outside the mosque area during the attack.
Wathiq al-‘Ubaydi used a
loudspeaker to address the neighborhood, saying, “I will not withdraw
until I have crushed all the gunmen in the area – by which he meant the
fighters of the Iraqi Resistance.
The so-called “Army of the
Awakening” has been heard more frequently around al-A‘zamiyah.
“As-Sahwah” (“the Awakening”) is a term frequently used by Islamic
fundamentalists to denote the rise of Islamic politics in recent years.
But the members of the force known as the “Army of the Awakening” were
recruited by the Americans and the Iraqi puppet regime in the same way
that the members of the kindred organization the “Council of the al-Anbar
Awakening” were recruited as a sort of Sunni sectarian militia serving
the American occupation in al-Anbar Province.
Local residents report that the
“Army of the Awakening” includes a number of residents of al-A‘zamiyah
known for their ties with the American occupation – people who are
locally called “stooges.”
Wathiq al-‘Ubaydi is known in al-A
‘zamiyah as a former bodyguard of ‘Abd al-Hammud, the Secretary of Iraqi
President Saddam Husayn. Quds Press reported that al-‘Ubaydi was
suddenly made the Imam of a mosque at one point prior to the American
