News from Jordan
=============

March 26, 2002
Amman, Jordan

This bulletin contains three items:

1) Six freedom fighters were chased by the gunfire of the Jordanian Army as
they tried to infiltrate west across the river Jordan into "Israel" on March
24, 2002.   Consequently, two freedom
fighters seem to have been shot dead in the back.  According to
Zionist sources, Jordanian Laison officers then contacted them to
report on other freedom fighters who had eluded the Jordanian
Army to make it safely across the river into "Israel", and gave the
Zionist side their estimated whereabouts west of the river.  As a
result, Zionist sources claim that four freedom fighters were
ambushed and killed, based on information from Jordanian Army
sources.  It seems that in the meantime a state of alert was
declared along Zionist colonies by the River Jordan as Zionist
colonists were asked to stay home and school bus trips were
cancelled.

2) In protest against normalization with the Zionist establishment,
and against the suppression of the pro-Intifada grass-roots
movement in Jordan, the People of the Homeland movement in
the Palestinian Arab lands occupied in 1948 called for a
demonstration in front of the Jordanian Embassy in Tel Aviv on
Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at 5 pm.

3) Land Day in the Eyes of Jordanian Children: on March 30,
2002, a group of Jordanian children will commemorate Land Day
between 9 am and 2 pm at the Union of Professional Associations
in Amman.  Bring your children along to join in the
commemoration which will include many artistic and recreational
activities with a message.  If you have any questions, please call
5515767.

P.S. Don't forget the Land Day sit-in at the Association against
Zionism and Racism offices in Shmeisani at 4 pm on the same
day.  If you have any questions about that sit-in, please call
5680775.
