On Joint American-Jordanian Exercises
==============================================
The following is the response of Laith Shubeilat, the Jordanian Arab
opposition figure and the president of the Association against Zionism
and Racism, to Al Jazeera Sattelite Station. When his opinion was
solicited on the Jordanian-American joint military exercises that
will reportedly continue till the end of August 2002, he said:

It is nice that I should be asked this question by the satellite
station broadcasting from Qatar [Aljazeera] where the largest
depots of American weaponry outside America lie. Moreover,
media reports indicate that the mighty Al Adid military base,
which Qataris are prevented from entering, will be the main
launchpad for the impending American campaign against Iraq.
This is not to mention that Qatar agreed to be the card America
plays against Saudi Arabia which has taken so far a relatively
honorable position by refusing to allow its territory to be
used to strike Iraq. But a sounder position would be to consider
a strike against any Arab country a blow to ALL Arab countries.

Thus, we in Jordan, just like in Qatar and the rest of the Arab
homeland (the reference is to the Arab people here), condemn all
those who cooperate with Americans politically. So how about
those who cooperate with them militarily?!! Therefore, the
joint American-Jordanian military exercises are to be denounced
as much as the [official] Qatari position towards what is going
on in Iraq, and the immoral Qatari-Zionist relationship. Equally
denounced is the allegedly Islamic Iranian position that allows the
so-called Higher Council for Islamic Revolution in Iraq to enter
the American bed for pleasure under the auspices of the conference
of military spies in London, a conference which was also attended
by Prince Hasan, whose presence there was also condemned by all
     Jordanians.
