1) It's Time to Speak Out against the Zionification of Jordan,
A Free Arab Voice Exclusive by LAITH SHUBAILATT

After the Jordanian-Israeli joint maneuvers in Aqaba and continual
Jordanian-American-British joint military exercises with "Israel", the
recent decision by Jordanian authorities to partake in
American-Israeli-Turkish maneuvers in the Mediterranean wasn't really a
big surprise.

A careful observer of late and past official Jordanian positions would
reasonably conclude that they have methodically purported to annex
Jordan to "Israel" in the service of Zionist plans, against Arab and
Muslim ones.

Understandably joint military exercises occur essentially between states
with similar policies and a compatible military strategy identifying
similarly WHO THE ENEMY IS...

Hence many are those official Jordanian positions undermining the
country's standing as an Arab and Muslim state, and handing over its
prime real-estate and financial assets as well as its military,
economic, and political resources to "Israel" and the Nato Alliance.
Everything in Jordan now is up for grabs from companies to land. From
tourist services including those which require shedding some of the
people's dignity, to military services including those which require
shedding some of the country's sovereignty, it's either For Rent or it's
For Sale!!

Yet sovereignty is protected by a military credo which identifies who
the enemy is in accordance with society's sense of what is holy and what
is unclean: Jordanians who take pride in their army refuse to be in the
same trenches with Zionists who have never been and will never be for
peace. They refuse to be in the same trenches with the Turkish army
which is occupying Northern Iraq with our implicit approval now. And
they refuse to be in the same trenches with an American Administration
which is actively annihilating the Iraqi people, and transgressing
against the Arab nation and Islam.

Some of these official Jordanian positions dragging us towards 'Israel"
and Nato, away from our Arab and Islamic center of gravity are:

1) Adopting misleading Zionist theses such as:
   i) Islam fosters terrorism
  ii) Arabism is chauvinistic
iii) the Palestinian National Charter is unjust towards Zionist Jews.

2) Accepting Zionism as a racist creed which discriminates between Jews
and Gentiles. For example, at the same time the Jordanian government
relinquished the right of return of Palestinian refugees, it didn't
request the annulment of the Israeli Law of Return which gives any Jew
in the world the right to citizenship in our occupied Palestinian land.

3) Psychologically mobilizing our armed forces against Arab opponents of
the alleged peace and ceasing all such mobilization against Zionists,
even the most extreme among them.

4) At the same time the red flag of Jordanian sovereignty is waved in
the face of Arabs and Muslims on many matters of principle, the
government concedes Jordanian sovereignty to Zionists and others as in
the following examples-

i) Agreeing to the joint administration with "Israel" of Aqaba airport
in the south of Jordan.

ii) Agreeing to the joint administration with "Israel" of the Jordan
Valley.

iii) Agreeing to the construction of an industrial city on Jordanian
soil whose exports would be exempt from American tariffs whether
Israelis are partners in joint ventures with Jordanians or
non-Jordanians, but only if Jordanians are partners with Israelis.

iv) Allowing the two Zionist criminals who tried to assassinate Khaled
Mashal to leave the country unscathed, along with the rest of their
Mossad support group, in violation of the constitution.

v) Setting a stony silence upon the assassination of the Jordanian
diplomat in Tel Aviv while raising hell over the murder of a Jordanian
embassy employee in Iraq, who turned out later to be the victim of a
'normal' robbery perpetrated by a Jordanian and a Saudi!

vi) Officially approving the principle of Jewish settlement in the East
Bank of the River Jordan, as in Bakura where Israeli laws are currently
in effect. Moreover, all obstacles to total foreign, including Israeli,
ownership or control of Jordanian companies and real-estate are
currently being removed. In contrast, in "Israel" today, Gentiles can't
legally buy up land and property!!

vii) Establishing strong military and security links between Jordan,
"Israel", and the U.S. and providing them with military facilities on
our soil as in Azraq military base.

In the process of annexing Jordan to the Nato Alliance, it becomes
obvious that the Jordanian regime has furthermore adopted the Zionist
scheme of the 'New Middle East', in direct violation of the pro-Arab
objectives of the Great Arab Revolution which brought the regime into
power.

This necessitates an explanation to the Jordanian people of all the
deals the Great Arab Revolution has ever cut with the Zionist movement
if any, and an academic explanation of the cause of the contradictions
between the declared objectives of the Arab Revolution and the
aforementioned practices and official Jordanian positions.

These positions should be condemned by the forces of civil society, by
trade unions, and all concerned citizens.

Let's all stand together in the face of Zionist schemes to devour
Jordan.

**Zionification: When Laith Shubailatt says 'Zionification', he is in
fact referring to what others call 'normalization of relations with
Zionists'. He maintains that 'normalization' should be reserved for
breaking the ice between two normal states in a normal conflict..But
since we as Arabs and Muslims would have to basically turn our backs on
our rights and IDENTITY to 'normalize relations' with Zionists,
'Zionification' should be used instead :)

2) Diffusing the Crisis between Iraq and Jordan,
   by the Free Arab Voice

In the aftermath of the execution of four Jordanians in Iraq for
smuggling car parts, several declarations and articles in the official
press indicated that the Jordanian government's response was calibrated
to foment a crisis with Iraq leading up to a shut down of the last
semi-open border Iraqi border.

Jordanians, who are otherwise extremely sympathetic to Iraq, were
getting bombarded with stories of how many dozen Jordanian prisoners
there was in Iraq, how badly they were getting treated, how Iraq just
wasn't responding positively to official Jordanian government pleas, how
Iraq might hold back from Jordan indispensable shipments of its oil out
of sheer spite, and how Iraq was on a collision course with Jordan in
spite of all that which the latter has done for the former in dire
times!!

It was becoming clear to many Jordanians that the Jordanian government
was coordinating with the U.S. and "Israel" to tighten the squeeze on
Iraqi borders in preparation for the next impending aggression against
the Iraqi people.

On December 15th, 1997, however, Laith Shubailatt, the leading
opposition figure in Jordan, sent a letter to the Iraqi Ambassador in
Amman, Jordan, in support of Iraq, but also conveying the dismay of the
Jordanian public over the Iraqi execution of four Jordanians. Explaining
how this gave conspirators the opportunity to fish in dirty waters, he
requested a meeting with President Saddam Hussein to discuss the
festering situation.

A little more than a month later, Laith Shubailatt came back to Jordan
from his meeting with Saddam with all of the seventy-one Jordanian
prisoners in Iraqi jails, twelve of whom are to finish their criminal
sentences in Jordanian jails. As he was held back for many hours at a
checkpoint on the Jordanian side of the border, the Jordanian prisoners
made it safely through into the capital Amman..

The Jordanian government was furious for the release of the Jordanian
prisoners outside the usual channels, but Laith Shubailatt revealed that
official Jordanian requests to release the prisoners were rude and
patronizing calculated specifically to illicit a negative Iraqi
response, which is why he succeeded where the government didn't...

Either way, the release of the Jordanian prisoners from Iraq, many of
whom committed criminal offenses for which they deserve to serve time,
succeeded in diffusing a pre-fabricated crisis with Iraq, thus depriving
the forces of evil from the excuse and the popular support to further
besiege Iraq. This time the good people won!

Another happy ending: Iraq offered Jordan more oil at cheaper prices,
and presented Jordan with a whole oil field on the border region, which
the Jordanian government declined to accept so as not to disobey
Washington.

Still the point was made...

3) Action Alert 1: Petition to Put Officials Deemed Responsible for
Genocide in Iraq on Trial in Peoples' Courts, by LAITH SHUBAILATT

We the undersigned, after a group of us personally examined the horrible
conditions of the besieged people of Iraq, and of Iraqi children who are
killed daily in hospitals by the criminal embargo due to the lack of
food and medicine, believe that this crime wouldn't have been possible
if it weren't for those Arab states that are carrying out the orders of
the U.S. administration and of international Zionism to besiege Iraq.

Therefore, we condemn the official position of the Jordanian government
that has turned into a mere tool of Genocide against fellow Arabs in
Iraq.

We hold the other Arab and Muslim governments, particularly those
adjacent to Iraq, fully responsible for contributing directly to the
commission of these crimes against humanity in Iraq.

We the undersigned consider any Iraqi who dies for lack of food and
medicine the direct victim of Arab officials and Iranian officials,
(who proclaim Islam to be their line of reference)..

We condemn the position of the Jordanian government who's been all eager
to lift all forms of siege on the aggressor Zionist state while
implementing an embargo on Iraq harsher even than United Nations
resolutions require, only to conform with the wishes of a
Zionist-dominated U.S. administration.

We condemn the position of all those rushing headlong towards the
Zionification of the region, especially those Arab governments that have
put pleasing the enemies of our people before pleasing God, His Prophet,
and the Arab people.

We the undersigned being aware of the constitution's determination in
Jordan that the King's orders don't exempt the Ministers from their
legal responsibility, declare that we've taken it upon ourselves to
expose this heinous crime.

We'll prepare the necessary documents against the perpetrators amongst
Jordanian officials so they may be charged before a People's Court for
the crime of aiding and abetting in crimes against humanity and the Arab
people.

WE ARE ASKING OUR ARAB, IRANIAN, TURKISH, MUSLIM, AMERICAN, EUROPEAN,
AND INTERNATIONAL BRETHREN TO DO THE SAME IN THEIR COUNTRIES AND STATES:

Warn any official in charge who contributes to implementing the criminal
embargo on Iraq that unless he/she cooperates in the efforts to lift the
siege, his/her name will be added to the list of those accused in aiding
and abetting in genocide in Iraq.

Then this list should be distributed as widely as possible among the
people of Jordan and elsewhere where this list is compiled, so these
names may take their rightful place in the HALL OF SHAME of people's
memory and consciences until the day comes when their bearers can be put
to trial.

4) Action Alert 2: Support Roger Garaudy..Buy his Book.
By Tawfic Abdul-Fattah, the Free Arab Voice

In France, the alleged beacon of culture, liberty, equality, and
fraternity, stands a man today accused of daring to pose serious
questions on matters of history, and of trying to research coherent
scientific answers to them.

This man is Roger Garaudy. His crime is that he had the courage to
stand up to the Inquisition of the Twentieth Century and declare the
received version of the Holocaust flat. So they decided to burn him on
the stake.

He is perhaps the Galilleo of our day..A free thinker seeking the truth.

You may agree or disagree with what he wrote. But like every supporter
of freedom, you have to defend his right to think, ask, say, write,
research, and breath what he believes to be the truth...
