A Different Military Tactic
I feel that some one must speak out against the martyrdom operations
of our Palestinian people. It is outrageous to me, not that our
people are willing to die for the cause of liberation of the homeland,
but that they are selling their lives so cheaply! I have been fortunate
enough to have witnessed over half a century of our dispossession and
exile from the homeland. In that time, I have seen many wars, and many
revolutions, and I must say that our martyrs are not getting the support
that they deserve from our people.
In North Vietnam, the entire population engaged the enemy. Old women and
men, mothers and children alike managed to find ingenuous ways in which
to sabotage the enemy's advances and to make the enemy's actions count
against them. I am moved to tears by the sight of Zionist tanks crushing
Palestinian cars and demolishing Palestinian homes, but they are tears of
rage, not sorrow. Every Palestinian car and house should be booby-trapped.
When a Zionist tank runs over a car, it should explode. When Zionist
soldiers enter a house, the walls and floors should collapse on them,
and ordinary household objects be rigged with explosive devices.
In the course of the Vietnamese struggle for freedom, the enemy got to
the point where they could not distinguish ally from foe. More
Palestinians should be able to pass themselves off as Zionists, to
mount resistance action from any location in the homeland. Surely
it would be possible for more of us to speak Hebrew without an Arabic
accent, to wear a yarmuke, to do WHATEVER it takes to reclaim every
inch of our homeland. In the annals of so-called 'secret' wars between
East and West, for example, historically there have been agents who were
able to infiltrate ANY country and to maintain entirely fictitious lives
for years, in order to perfect a strike against the enemy. As much as
our people dislike duplicity of any sort, surely defence against total
annihilation forces us to consider all methods. Our people have been
waging a war of survival against the Zionist for over eighty years.
Victory is promised to those who are steadf! ast and patient, but surely
enough time has passed for us to be able to have an effective plan of
resistance that would penetrate every sector of the invader society.
Moreover, they deprive us of electricity and water, of food and of shelter.
Why aren't we sabotaging THEIR sources of power, water and food? Yes, our
people would suffer alongside the invader, but is THAT not worth the prize
of ultimate victory?
There is an old revolutionary poem by Tawfiq Zayyad: 'In Lydda,in Ramla,
in the Galillee, we shall remain like a wall upon your chest, and in your
throat like a shard of glass, a cactus thorn'. That is precisely what we
need to do. We need to make every wall crash down upon their chests, and
every window an explosion of glass launched at their throats and hearts.
Beneath every floor, every brick must be a pit filled with thorns, with
sharpened stakes, with explosives. To reiterate: Palestinians will die
at the same time as the Zionists, but our people are dying anyway, and
every explosive belt that explodes 'prematurely' is a wasted effort of
martyrdom. Only by making the entire land of Palestine poison to the
Zionist, only by salting every home and street with the threat of death,
only by making every innocent object a potential weapon of mass destruction,
only by making certain that in the heart of every flower carries a bomb,
only then will we truly be able to say that our martyrs' blood is worth
the price.
Resistance until Liberation!
Yours humbly,
Ali Askari
